LADWP Confirms Reservoir Will be Refilled to Historic Level

Speaking to a substantially smaller – but highly engaged – audience at the third Silver Lake Reservoir community meeting, representatives of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power stated that the reservoir would be refilled to its historic level, which is 440 feet above sea level, and confirmed that water will start flowing into the reservoir in May 2017.  LADWP also reviewed progress on the bypass pipeline project and presented a detailed timeline for completion of the refill, tree planting and landscaping and shade ball removal from Ivanhoe Reservoir. The presentation was followed by a sometimes heated debate between attendees regarding the future of the land surrounding the reservoir and aesthetic concerns such as “tiger striping” on the asphalt that is on the slopes of the reservoir.
