Silver Lake LGBTQ Author and Historian Stuart Timmons Dies

Stuart Timmons,  author and historian of Los Angles’ LGBTQ history, died on January 28 at the Serrano North Convalescent Hospital in Hollywood. According to West Hollywood Magazine, Timmons, a former resident of Silver Lake and lifelong LGBTQ activist, was the co-author of “Gay LA,” the first definitive book about the LGBTQ culture in Los Angeles, and “The Trouble with Harry Hay,” a biography of one of the early leaders of the gay rights movement. He also created walking tours of LGBTQ historic sites in in Silver Lake and downtown Los Angeles. The Pride reported that despite suffering a debilitating stroke nine years ago, Timmons remained  active in the West Hollywood and Silver Lake gay communities.
