Thomas Starr King Heads to Finals for $25,000 Grant

Thomas Starr King Middle School Film and Media Magnet, which serves students in Silver Lake, is in second place for a $25,000 grant from the State of California, ScholarShare Scholar Dollars Program. The four schools in the “Extra Large School” category that receive the highest number of votes during the voting period, which ends at 8:00 p.m. PT on March 24, 2017, will be declared winners and receive one grant in the amount of $25,000 for the benefit of the school. According to the Thomas Starr King website, the school would use the money to send students on field trips to enrich the curriculum, and to enhance science, technology, and math instruction.
