On December 13, the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council, the Silver Lake Wildlife Sanctuary and Joymode will co-sponsor a free screening of the acclaimed documentary, The Cat That Changed America. The film, which explores the resilience of the world-famous mountain lion who lives nearby in Griffith Park, will be shown at 6:45 p.m. at the Silver Lake Recreation Center. Cast members, including representatives from Poison Free Malibu, will also answer questions and lead a discussion on habitat connectivity and the dangers rat poisons pose to wildlife and pets. SLNC Region 3 Representative and Youth Committee Co-chair Rebecca Ruben, who worked with the Outreach Committee to organize the event said, “The Cat That Changed America is a film that the entire family will enjoy. It’s a fun way to teach the next generation of conservationists about the wildlife that lives in our own backyard.”
