The Vista Theatre: How Hollywood Dreams Come True

Lance Alspaugh was a high school-aged ticket taker at a movie theatre in the Midwest when he decided we would come to the west coast after graduation and somehow become involved in the film business.  After his early years in Los Angeles, and a colorful story, he purchased a run down theatre that was originally built in 1923. Alspaugh restored the building that is now known as the Vista – and made it into a famous destination for moviegoers.  View the SLNC’s History Collective Committee’s interview with Alspaugh here and discover how he made his Hollywood dreams come true.  The History Collective preserves Silver Lake’s history by recording oral histories of the unique people who have impacted the community. The Committee has recorded over 100 interviews to date.
