Reservoir Planning Gears Up

The Bureau of Engineering (BOE), the city agency responsible for the new Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Master Plan, has scheduled the first community open house to determine the future of the iconic Silver Lake Reservoir Complex.  The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at Friendship Auditorium, 3201 Riverside Drive, 90027. According to the BOE, the first step will be to hire a consultant to guide the planning process to create improvements and protections for the historic reservoirs. “The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council will ensure that this process is open and transparent,” said SLNC Co-chair Anne-Marie Johnson. “In order to do so, it is imperative that the SLNC, an elected body whose sole responsibility is to represent the needs and concerns of Silver Lake stakeholders, take a leadership position in the development of the Master Plan.” The creation of the new Master Plan is expected to take several years.
