SLNC Supports Action Against WAZE

In separate motions to the Board, the Transportation and Neighborhood Safety Committee recommended that the SLNC draft a letter in support of Councilmember David Ryu’s proposal that the WAZE App exclude certain residential streets in Silver Lake and the rest of Los Angeles to help reduce the negative impact and continuing threat to the quality of life created by use of these apps. It was suggested by an attendee that Google Maps and other wayfinding apps be named in the letter as well. In addition the committee recommended that the SLNC submit a Community Impact Statement in support of Council File 17-1311 that would implement recommendations from the State of the Street Related Infrastructure Programs – and submit a letter in support of a ban on mylar balloons, which have been caused power outages in Silver Lake and across L.A.
