Tuesday afternoon, LAFD first responders rescued a woman spotted in the waters of the Silver Lake reservoir, yelling for help. The water is off limits to the public. The woman apparently climbed the chain link fence that protects the area. SLNC Co-chair Anne-Marie Johnson reached out to Fire Station 56 and was told the woman suffered from hypothermia and was transported to USC Medical Center. “Many people do not realize that the reservoirs are extremely deep and the water is very cold,” said Johnson. “The concrete-lined slopes of the basin that holds the reservoirs’ 795 million gallons of water are also extremely slippery, with no footholds. We thank the first responders who risked their lives and saved hers.”
