There are plenty of sanctioned and professional fireworks displays in the greater Los Angeles area. LAist has compiled some of them here and Curbed LA has a great round-up here. We urge you to watch fireworks at a professional display, while also reporting any illegal fireworks you see in your area.

Here’s a message from Neighborhood Prosecutor Gabrielle Taylor:

“We are committed to enforcing our anti-fireworks ordinance. To that end, LAPD will be visiting problematic locations and blocks and reminding residents that all fireworks are illegal in the City of Los Angeles.

It is important that illegal fireworks are reported so that we can track these hot spots. LAPD now has an online complaint procedure for fireworks:

We are hoping through education, enforcement, and neighbors like yourself we can have a safe Fourth of July!”

Also, this time of year is incredibly tough on our pets, many of whom are so scared by the fireworks that they end up escaping their homes and being placed in shelters. If you would like to help, the best thing you can do is become a temporary foster home for a pet to make room for the influx of displaced ones. You can find more info at 4 Days For Life.

If you have a pet, please follow these tips to ensure that they have a safe and happy 4th of July.
