Improving
Silver Lake for Everyone
The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council works to honor diversity, build community, forge bonds with neighboring communities, and promote participation in city governance and decision-making processes to improve the quality of life for all of Silver Lake’s Stakeholders.
Our collective success relies on your engagement and participation.
The SLNC communicates the needs of Silver Lake to the LA City Council. Composed of a democratically elected, volunteer board, the SLNC is given a budget to allocate towards the needs of Silver Lake.

Stewarding Community Impact

1
Neighborhood Purpose Grants
Our Neighborhood Council has a long history of supporting community organizations and events. Neighborhood Purposes Grants (NPGs) allow Neighborhood Councils (NCs) to partner with local 501(c)(3) nonprofits and public schools to enhance LA neighborhoods. NPG-funded projects must serve a public benefit and be open and free to all stakeholders.
2
Community Impact Statements
Community Impact Statements (CIS) are positions taken by the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council on issues before the City’s decision makers. They express the council's collective support, opposition, or suggestions regarding matters pending before the City Council. NC representatives can submit CIS the City Clerk; contact your Board Representative for details.
3
Fiscal Transparency and Budget Visibility
We manage all budgetary responsibilities with transparency and financial prudence. All NC expenditures aim for public benefit and require board approval at a compliant meeting before spending. They must adhere to relevant laws and be approved within the same fiscal year. All expenditures are trackable on the NC Funding Dashboard linked below.
