Rowena: Let There Be Lights

The SLNC reports that new and upgraded lighting is being installed on Rowena Boulevard.  SLNC Vice Chair Jerome Courshon said the Bureau of Street Lighting began the upgrades recently and work is still in progress. For years, residents and business owners have been concerned about visibility on this stretch of Rowena, which has been the site of several pedestrian accidents. The SLNC, members of the community and Council District 4 worked together to be sure Silver Lake was included in city-wide lighting improvements. The upgrades are part of the LED Streetlight Replacement Program, which provides brighter lights and reduces energy costs through green technology.   (If you are a streetlight buff, check out the Historic Museum of Street Lighting in downtown LA.)
