Special Update: Glendale Boulevard Water Main Construction

After the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council (SLNC) newsletter was emailed yesterday, we received information about water main construction taking place during October and November on Glendale Boulevard in Silver Lake. According to SLNC Co-chair Anne-Marie Johnson, who spoke with members of a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) work crew, DWP is replacing a main water line that runs below Glendale Boulevard between Deane Street and Fletcher Drive. “The pipes are extremely old, perhaps one hundred years, and have the potential to rupture, which could cause an expensive and dangerous situation,” said Johnson.

There will be alternating lane closures on Glendale between Deane and Fletcher, Monday though Friday. Work on the corner of Fletcher and Glendale will only take place on Saturdays, beginning October 14. Work on the corner of Glendale and Silver Lake Boulevard will also take place on a Saturday but a date has not been scheduled.  Johnson said construction is scheduled to be finished by the end of November, and streets will be repaved after the work on pipes is completed.  If you have questions, please email board@silverlakenc.org.
