Volunteer Opportunity for Older Adults

JumpStart volunteers work with preschool age children from under-resourced communities.

Nina Sorkin, who worked with the Outreach and Youth Committees to organize SLNC’s participation in the Spring Faire and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life events, reports Jumpstart Community Corps is looking for older adults (55+) to volunteer with preschool age children from under-resourced communities. No experience is required and volunteers receive professional training in early education and community leadership to work with preschool children on reading, writing and social skills. In addition, they receive a non-taxable stipend plus travel reimbursements for their service. For more information, contact Kayla Weems (213-387-5505) or email CommunityCorpsLA@jstart.org.
