Transportation and Neighborhood Safety Committee Elects Co-chairs for 2018-2019

Paul Emmons and Tony Michaelis will lead committee devoted to policy,
plans, programs, projects and budgets related to mobility issues and public works.

Long-time residents and community advocates Tony Michaelis and Paul Emmons have been named co-chairs of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council’s Transportation and Neighborhood Safety Committee. Michaelis is a current co-chair who became interested in community transportation issues after successfully implementing a Parking Permit District on his street. “The experience made me realize that the City can be a resource to improve quality of life but it also showed me that the process to accomplish things is very difficult,” said Michaelis.

Paul Emmons brings deep experience in public safety issues and services to the committee. Currently serving his third term as secretary on the Board of Directors for the Pasadena Fire Department EMS Reserves, he has been a medic with IATSE Local 80 for 22 years and the senior coordinator for First Aid Services to the Pasadena Tournament of Roses since 2001. Emmons said, “Pedestrian safety is a huge concern in Silver Lake and I believe in dealing proactively with the increasing traffic issues through our streets.”  The next Transportation and Neighborhood Safety meeting will take place from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, at the Silver Lake Library. Email questions and concerns to
