Silver Lake Goes All Out for Halloween

Felicia, dressed as Puplova from the Ballet Pooch de Monte Carlo, turned heads at Silver Lake’s 10th Annual Howl-O-Ween Doggie Costume Pageant. Felicia wore her favorite pearls and was accompanied by SLNC History Collective Co-chair Michael Masterson.

Maybe it’s in the water – or we were all channeling Walt Disney – but Silver Lake was again the epicenter of L.A.’s favorite holiday: Halloween. Consistently cited on “Best for Trick of Treating” lists, kids, pups and their parents and companions celebrated their creativity at sites across the community. Staff at the Silver Lake and Bellevue Rec Centers went all out to surprise and delight Halloweeners. Councilmember David Ryu and CD4 again sponsored the Armstrong Avenue Halloween Event, providing funding for the annual neighborhood fest. Nina Sorkin, co-chair of the SLNC Mature Adult Advocates Committee, reported there were 800 children and parents between 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. at the Bellevue Rec Center event, which was co-sponsored by the SLNC. Share your favorite Halloween photos on Facebook @SilverLakeNC.
