History Collective and Library to Celebrate World AIDS Day with Special Program

On December 1, in celebration of World AIDS Day, the SLNC’s Silver Lake History Collective Committee and the Silver Lake Library will present a special screening of filmmaker Jane Cantillon’s “The Other Side – A Queer History’s Last Call.” According to History Collective Co-chair Michael Masterson, “The documentary tells the story about the legendary piano bar in Silver Lake and its patrons who share their stories about gay life in Los Angeles from the 1940s on.” Pianist James Lent, a regular entertainer at the bar, will play before the screening and there will be a Q&A after with the filmmaker. The program will start at 3:30 p.m. at the Silver Lake Library, 2411 Glendale Boulevard.
