The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council has joined Miry’s List “Welcome, Neighbor” Program , which this month is helping clear the Amazon wishlist of the Zamani family (link in next paragraph). Miry’s List is a non-profit organization dedicated to welcoming new arrival refugee families to Southern California.

Please consider helping purchase an item of great need for this family that has come a great distance to seek safe haven. Together, we are creating community and making Silver Lake a more welcoming neighborhood. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/27Y66VBNZYRZM

The Zamani Family arrived from Afghanistan on July 2017. They lived for almost a year in a one bedroom apartment before recently making the transition to a new apartment in LA. Before coming to the US, Dad had served the US military and Mom was a homemaker. Now settled in California, Dad is working while Mom is staying home to take care of the little ones. The older children are attending school and not yet able to work.
