LA’s Green New Deal Shared Solar Program

By 2050, LA’s Green New Deal (the pLAn) aims to have a zero carbon grid, zero carbon transportation, zero carbon buildings, zero waste, and zero wasted water—and includes a series of targets to mark and measure our progress in this effort. Full details on the pLAn at https://plan.lamayor.org/.

For renewable energy, the City’s goal is to run on 55% renewable energy (for electricity) by 2025, 80% by 2036, and 100% by 2045. One way to help us reach this goal is by going solar. Did you know that even if you don’t own your own home, you can participate? Visit LADWP’s Shared Solar program to learn more.

The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council’s Green Committee is looking for other ways that our neighborhood can contribute to hitting these goals. Are there things we (or you) can do to help Silver Lake switch to more solar energy? If you have additional ideas, we’d love to hear from you! Email green@silverlakenc.org or join us every third Thursday at 7:00pm via Zoom. All are welcome!
